Power BI Consulting for Small Business
Reporting for small businesses that have outgrown spreadsheets: a Power BI model people can trust, dashboards for the numbers that matter, and a warehouse only if you actually need one.
Power BI consulting fits when reporting is
- Still living in spreadsheets01
- Different every time someone exports it02
- Too large for one file03
Business intelligence
Business intelligence consulting here means one set of definitions for revenue, pipeline, or operations, then a report your team will open. It is not a second copy of the spreadsheet with a new logo.
Most engagements start with the spreadsheet you already trust. We name the numbers that disagree, pick the ones the business will use, and only then build a model. If two people export the same report and get different totals, that is the problem this work is for.
A Power BI consultant on a small-business project is usually one person who can sit with the owner, the bookkeeper, or the operations lead and leave them able to refresh the report. You do not need a data department for that. The model uses the words your team already uses, so a filter means the same thing in the meeting that it meant in the spreadsheet.
Dashboards
Dashboards are built around the questions you already ask each week. Each view has an owner and a refresh you can explain, so the number on the screen matches the number in the source system.
A useful dashboard is short. One page for the owner, one for the person who updates the source, and filters that match how you already slice the business: location, month, product, or rep. We do not add a chart because the tool offers it. If a number cannot be traced back to a column in the source, it does not go on the page.
The executive dashboard package on the pricing page starts at $1,500 USD. That covers a model, the views you asked for, documentation, and a training session so someone on your side can refresh and filter them. A strategy workshop, when you need the questions agreed before the build, is listed from $500 USD. Larger jobs, including a warehouse, are quoted from the sources you have. Quotes are issued in USD or CAD.
Databricks consulting
Databricks consulting is the right conversation when Power BI is sitting on files, exports, or a warehouse that cannot keep up. It is a section of this work, not a separate product page. Most small-business engagements stay in Power BI.
You would look at Databricks when the same file is emailed around, when a refresh fails because the workbook is too large, or when more than one system has to land in one place before a report can be trusted. The platform is there to feed Power BI, not to replace the report your team opens on Monday.
If the volume is still one spreadsheet, we say so and keep the job in Power BI. Adding a platform you do not need makes the next report harder to explain, and harder for your team to own after the engagement ends.
How an engagement runs
The first step is the report you use now and the file or system behind it. We look at who exports it, which total people argue about, and which question the dashboard has to answer. That conversation is the brief. A public case study would have to show someone else's numbers, so dashboard work is scoped on a call instead.
From there the work is a model, the pages, and a handover. Someone on your side should be able to refresh, filter, and tell a colleague where a number came from. If the source data is messy, the quote says so before the build starts. Cleaning is part of the job only when the report cannot be trusted without it.
You can see how we ship software on the web and redesign pages. Those are public because the sites are public. A dashboard is not, until you decide a view is safe to show. When you have one you are willing to publish, it belongs on this page.

FAQ
What does Power BI consulting include?
+−
A model, the reports your team asked for, and a short handover so someone on your side can refresh and filter them. Scope depends on how clean the source data is.
Can you help if we are still in spreadsheets?
+−
Yes. That is the usual starting point. We keep the spreadsheet as the source until a report is trustworthy enough to replace it.
Do you consult on Databricks?
+−
Yes, when the volume or the number of sources has outgrown files and a single Power BI model. Smaller reporting jobs stay in Power BI.
Are quotes in USD or CAD?
+−
Both. Packaged starting prices on the pricing page are shown in USD, and a quote can be issued in USD or CAD.
